Here are a few facts about Kaspa that often surprise people new to the project:
- Fastest proof-of-work blockchain by block rate. Kaspa currently produces blocks at a rate that far exceeds traditional proof-of-work chains like Bitcoin, which produces one block roughly every 10 minutes.
- blockDAG, not a single chain. Traditional blockchains discard competing blocks. Kaspa uses a structure called a blockDAG (Directed Acyclic Graph), where multiple blocks can exist at the same layer of the network simultaneously — none are wasted.
- Academic roots. Kaspa was built by researchers who first published the underlying design in a peer-reviewed paper called GhostDAG. The protocol is grounded in formal computer science, not just engineering intuition.
- No VC funding, no pre-sale. There was no venture capital backing and no token sale before launch. The network started from zero with open mining available to anyone.
