What is KIP-2?
KIP-2 is a proposed upgrade to Kaspa's consensus layer that would shift the network to follow the DAGKNIGHT protocol. A Kaspa Improvement Proposal (KIP) is the formal process through which changes to the Kaspa network are proposed and tracked — similar to how Bitcoin has BIPs. KIP-2 is classified as a hard fork at the consensus layer, meaning all nodes on the network would need to upgrade together for the change to take effect; it also touches the API/RPC layer that developers use to interact with Kaspa nodes. At the time of writing, KIP-2 has "Proposed" status, meaning it has been submitted for discussion but has not yet been approved or scheduled for deployment.
