Who created Kaspa, and who owns it now?
Kaspa was initially created by DAGlabs, but DAGlabs renounced ownership and transferred Kaspa to the public domain approximately six months before the mainnet launched. Public domain means no single entity holds legal or operational control — the protocol belongs to everyone. Crucially, this handover happened before any coins existed, so the original creators could not leverage their early position to accumulate an advantage. For a beginner, the takeaway is that Kaspa has no owner: it is a public good maintained by its community.
