Why did Kaspa's Rust Committee recreate their multisig wallet in 2022?

In December 2022, the Rust Committee had to recreate their multisig wallet for technical reasons and transfer the Rust fund coins from the old wallet to the new one. A multisig wallet ties its signing rules to the specific keys and software configuration used when it was created; when technical circumstances require a fresh setup, the committee must move funds to a newly generated wallet at a different address rather than simply updating the old one in place. The 70,000,000 KAS DagKnight fund was subsequently stored in this same recreated wallet at its new address. For a beginner, this is a reminder that wallet addresses are not permanent identifiers — the committee controlling the funds stayed the same even though the wallet address changed.
